Privacy

BookTrack is a free Android app for organising a book collection and tracking loans. It suits a family bookshelf, a book club, an association, a small library or a bookshop’s lending corner. It has no prices, sales or payments: it only tracks your books and who has them.

It is the sister app to MangaTrack and GameTrack and shares their local-first design: your library lives in a database on your phone, with optional sync to your own Google Drive.

Features

What it does

  • Shelves for books you own, books you manage for others (with donations), and books you borrowed from someone.
  • Loans: who has which book, due dates, overdue books first, and lost / found.
  • People: borrowers, donors and lenders, with each person’s history.
  • Backup and restore, plus CSV export and import of your book list.
  • Optional sync with your own Google Drive, to move to a new phone.
  • English and French. Arabic titles and names display correctly.

Install

Installing the APK

  1. On your Android phone, tap Download APK above. Chrome may warn that this type of file can harm your device: that warning appears for every app installed from outside the Play Store. Tap Download anyway.
  2. Open the downloaded file, from the download notification or from Files → Downloads.
  3. Android asks you to allow installing unknown apps for your browser or file manager. Allow it for this install (Settings → Apps → Special app access → Install unknown apps). You can turn it off again afterwards. The exact menu names vary between phone brands.
  4. Tap Install, then Open. If Google Play Protect offers to scan the app, let it.
  5. To update, download the new APK from this page and install it over the current app. Do not uninstall first: uninstalling deletes the data stored on your phone.
